According to Tucson Police, four pedestrians were hit by a vehicle last Saturday night when they were crossing a street near the University of Arizona campus.

A group of five students were crossing in a crosswalk near East Fifth Street near the University of Arizona campus when four of them were hit by 45-year-old Gerald D. Taylor. According to investigators, the group had stopped to wait for traffic, but Taylor did not.  He fled the scene but later turned himself in to police.

Two of the four students that were hit had to be treated for serious injuries, one was treated for minor injuries, and the fourth has life-threatening injuries.

According to police, Taylor had three children in his car at the time, and speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. Taylor was booked into the Pima County jail on nine counts including: aggravated DUI, child abuse, and leaving the scene of a serious injury accident.
