One person was killed and several others were injured in motor vehicle accident involving two cars in Tempe.

The Motor Vehicle Accident

According to Lt. Scott Smith, a spokesman with the Tempe Police Department, early afternoon on June 14, two cars collided near McClintock Drive and Apache Blvd. The smaller, passenger vehicle involved in the motor vehicle accident was making a left turn on Apache Boulevard from McClintock Drive when it crashed with a pick-up truck. The passenger vehicle was carrying 5 individuals. There was one male inside the truck at the time of the crash.

Motor Vehicle Accident Victims

One passenger in the smaller passenger vehicle, a Native American male in his 30’s, was killed. Four others were injured. They were rushed to a trauma center at a local area hospital, said Tempe Police Department’s Lt. Jeff Glover. The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.

Initial Investigation of Motor Vehicle Accident

According to an initial investigation of the motor vehicle accident, police do not believe drugs and alcohol were involved. Glover said the investigation of the accident is still ongoing.
